You may have read the previous post with the sketches of an alternative design for the VanMoof App. If you haven’t read it, I suggest you take a minute or two to review it first.
This article is also on the same topic. This time it has a supporting, interactive UI instead of sketches. For a quick introduction to the subject, you can first watch the video below.
If the user gives consent, the launch view may display a dynamic background image and an announcement such as a social post from VM directly or an update the user wishes to see, such as friends updates.
Bike view now has a cleaner look, enriched with tiles. At first glance, battery percent is in focus. The name of the bicycle with approximate range value is also present on top-right access to the user’s account.
Tiles can be fixed or customized. The aim is to help the user develop a behavior. A tile means a simple function, which displays brief info. Using a tile is easy either swipe and tap or only tap.
The navigation tile has preset locations for the tap&go function. Tap&go gets the address, launches the navigation view, directly initiates the ride with the default riding options. The user can assign names on different addresses as presets or let the app process the data and statistically suggest places to go next.
The navigation view contains the overview of the route, trip-related route topology, weather data, and the riding options. The overview tile gives the distance, estimated time (concerning selected riding settings, assist, shifting, boost). Users can swipe on the overview tile, change riding settings and initiate the music player. When the ride starts, the tile disappears or turns into a dashboard.
